During this session, we will walk through the basic outputs of HR with an eye on finding efficiencies in task work. We will also visit strategic outputs of HR with a focus on Employee Retention and Leadership Development. Participants will come away from the session having learned the following:

1. How to assess the administration of the employee life cycle including on and off boarding, job changes, benefits administration, leave administration, time management, payroll processing, and record keeping.

2. How to begin improving the process of transactional tasks using Lean methodology.

3. Where to start when tackling employee retention.

Please also register with Zoom here. UPHRA must retain attendance records for recertification purposes.

Robin Chapekis is the founder of SVELTE HR, a Michigan consulting firm focused on HR efficiency and effectiveness. Robin believes that process improvements on transactional HR tasks will develop capacity for HR professionals to focus on transformational activities that increase talent retention and support sustainable business growth. Additionally, her understanding of the power of data and analytics pushes her clients to make more objective business decisions and to translate the value of HR practices into a bottom line amount.

She has worked in Human Resources across a variety of industries; developing and redesigning dozens of processes to put talent experience first while supporting business goals and maintaining compliance. Robin has worked in environments where much of the workforce is front line, hourly employees and reduced pay errors by more than 80%. She has worked in non-profit environments where HR infrastructure has been neglected; turning HR into a business partner by demanding HR operational effectiveness. She has also worked with multiple clients to transform HR practices, develop employee electronic records and ensure employee data is reliable and valid.

Robin holds a SHRM-SCP, a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification and is trained in Behaviour Based Interviewing, Form I-9 ICE standards, and Interest Based Negotiation. She holds a Master of Science in Human Resources and Organizational Development and a Graduate Certificate in Non-Profit Management from Eastern Michigan University.

Outside of HR, Robin is an avid reader, runner, and explorer. She enjoys finding new places to wear out her dogs with her engineer husband. Having grown up in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and lived overseas twice, Robin brings a diverse perspective and enjoys working in open, collaborative environments.
