Employee Succession Planning: Techniques and Legal Considerations by Laura Katers-Reilly

The departure of any key employee can disrupt business, not only those in executive positions.  Succession planning is where an organization’s needs and the employee’s interests converge.  What can be done legally to motivate key employees to stay long enough to train others and give plenty of notice before leaving?  Can legal documents require key employees to stay through changes in leadership or corporate restructuring?  How can we avoid triggering discrimination laws while transitioning roles?  Attorney Laura Katers Reilly of Kendricks Bordeau, P.C., Marquette, will cover common techniques used in succession planning for key employees and the legal considerations involved.

Resigned to Success: Using an Exit Plan to Build Hope, Energy, and Success in a Business by Scott White

We will cover succession planning and its importance in organizational development, benefits of effective succession planning for both individuals and the organization, and identify critical roles within the organization that require succession planning.
